We offer a range of options to meet your individual needs, including 24 hour respite care, 7 days a week or short term respite in the individual’s home.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Companionship

As we age, feelings of loneliness and alienation can have a negative impact on an individual’s mental and physical health. Companionship is one of our priority respite care services, and something we are truly passionate about here at CareALot Respite Services. We believe no one should ever have to feel alone or alienated. Whether it’s sitting and watching television with them, going for a stroll, or just being someone to talk to, we provide emotional support, friendship, and company for your loved one.

Accompaniment and Escorting

We’ll accompany your loved one wherever they need to go, such as grocery shopping, running errands, going to church, or any other community activity they enjoy. This helps preserve their sense of independence, while also ensuring they are safe and able to get to and from their activities. If they aren’t feeling up to it, we’re happy to do the shopping for them and pick up whatever they need.

If your family receives funding through the Passport Program, we can provide community support workers to support your loved one by escorting them to various activities in their community.

Support for Appointments

With caring for a disabled or elderly family member, getting to appointments on time and keeping track of important information for all caregivers involved is important. When you can’t be there to support a loved one at their appointments, our respite care providers can step in for you. We’ll take notes for you and your family, and make sure that your loved one is able to get answers to their immediate concerns. Our providers provide transportation for your loved ones to and from their appointments, but there are times we may need to rely on public transport such as the TTC, taxi, or Wheeltrans. Family members may want to make their own transportation arrangements for their loved one in some situations if the need arises. If any prescriptions need to be picked up or refilled, we’ll make sure that they are collected and properly stored.

Medication Support

Medication is also an important consideration when caring for a loved one, and therefore one of the biggest concerns you may have for your loved one is “how will we make sure they take their medications on time and properly?” That’s one of our respite care services designed to give you some peace of mind when you take time away. We will make sure your loved one takes all of their medications properly, that they are stored safely, and that we keep track of everything. * No medication administration can only help client take their own medication.

Hospital Support Stays

Being in the hospital is scary for anyone, no matter who you are, especially if you are in the hospital for a longer period of time. Our respite care staff is able to provide support for your loved one when they are required to stay in the hospital, ensuring they have everything they need, including companionship, and we’ll be there to support them while they recover. We will also ensure that notes between the doctor and the respite worker are taken and recorded so family members can stay updated on their loved one’s medical care.

Transition Support

Making the transition to and from hospitals, group homes, community homes, long-term care facilities, retirement homes, or individual homes can be difficult. Our team has assisted people in making these transitions safely, comfortably, and effectively over many years of experience, and know exactly how to handle them with empathy and compassion. It can be incredibly helpful to have a professional on your side when this time comes, and when it does, we’re here to help.

Light Cleaning and Meal Prep

When you can’t be there to ensure that your loved one’s house is tidy and they are eating their meals, our team can be. We’ll make sure their nutritional needs are met, and that their space is clean and livable so they stay happy and healthy at all times.

Respite Room Available

One respite stay room available for weekly respite support, 7 days a week for 24 hours a day. Room is fully furnished. There will be a caregiver/community support worker on site 24 hours a day. Room must be booked in advance.

Personal Care
